SELF-DRIVING CARS IN THE CITIES COULD SAVE 40 PERCENT COST

Switzerland E-transports good for environment and economics, World Economic Forum report says.

A new report from World Economic Forum examines how electric vehicles will create smarter cities. Vattenfall is one of the leading energy companies that has contributed with its expertise and knowledge.

The report shows that increased use of electrified autonomous vehicles (AV) could led to a reduction in cost per mile of up to 40 percent. In the US alone, achieving the transformation will quadruple value for society by 2030, a gain that could be worth up to $635 billion.

To achieve this, high-use vehicles in the cities such as taxis, public transport and transportation fleets should be prioritized as these represent a higher volume of miles travelled. It is also important to deploy charging infrastructure already today in order to prepare for a coming transformation to electric vehicles.
