Record wind power growth in Europe

The European wind sector installed more new capacity than gas and coal combined in 2014, according to research.

Across the 28 member states, the European Wind Energy Association said the industry connected a total of 11,791MW to the grid with coal and gas adding 3305MW and 2338 MW respectively.

Germany was by far the biggest market last year, installing nearly half of new wind farms in the EU.
