Netherlands Nuon will install 15,000 solar panels on the roofs of the Vandersanden Group´s two brick factories in Spijk and Hedikhuizen in the Netherlands. The total capacity will be 3.5 MW.

The solar panel modules are designed for the roofs of the Vandersanden Group´s factories in Spijk and Hedikhuizen, and Nuon´s subsidiary Feenstra will carry out the actual installation, starting after this summer. In early 2018, the installation on the both roofs will be completed.
"By installing solar roofs we will be able to make a quarter of our electricity consumption sustainable," says Jean-Pierre Wuytack, CEO Vandersanden Group. "This fits perfectly with our strategic vision to become the most sustainable company in the brick industry."

Erik Suichies, Business to Business Sales Director at Nuon, says the deal fits well with Nuon’s sustainability ambitions: "We want to help companies become more sustainable. One of the opportunities is to install solar panels at their locations."

Largest roofs
Nuon has been an energy partner of the Amsterdam ArenA stadium and Amsterdam RAI Exhibition Centre, where Nuon has realised two of the largest solar roofs in Amsterdam. And as a partner of Thialf Ice Rink Stadium, Nuon also helps the sports stadium in the northern part of the country to generate its own electricity. With 5,000 solar panels, it is the largest solar roof fitted to a sports stadium in the Netherlands.
