COP21 The almost 200 negotiators in Paris reached agreement this weekend on a draft for a global climate agreement.

The host nation France has convened a team of 14 ministers from different countries to act as facilitators in several themes in the concluding climate negotiations. The final negotiations got underway on Sunday afternoon based on four themes — implementation mechanisms, ambition, division of responsibilities and transparency, as well as immediate measures to take.

This will be followed by discussions on additional themes, such as "adaptation" – the negotiations on how the world must deal with the consequences of climate change – where Sweden's Minister for Climate and the Environment Åsa Romson (the Greens) and her Bolivian counterpart share facilitator responsibility.

It is now up to the ministers to transform the draft, which is made up numerous points which the parties involved disagree on, into a binding agreement.
