VATTENFALL’S LIGNITE BUSINESS SALE APPROVED

Germany The EU Commission on Thursday, 22 September, cleared the acquisition of Vattenfall’s lignite business by the Czech energy group EPH and its financial partner PPF Investments.

The necessary anti-trust clearance finalizes the deal. The owner ship transfer is expected within the coming weeks, by which the sale will be completed.

The sale includes power plants Jänschwalde, Boxberg, Schwarze Pumpe, Block R in Lippendorf as well as open cast mines Jänschwalde, Nochten, Welzow-Süd, Reichwalde and the recently closed mine Cottbus Nord.
