Wind and solar get cheaper and cheaper

Wind power is now comparable in price to fossil fuels, and solar is well on its way according to a new report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

Onshore wind and crystalline silicon photovoltaics have both reduced costs this year, while costs have gone up for gas-fired and coal-fired generation.

Among the country-level findings, the study found that onshore wind is now fully-cost competitive with both gas and coal in the UK and Germany, while in China both solar and wind are now cheaper than gas.
