The Eiffel Tower goes green

A renewable-energy firm has installed two vertical axis wind turbines, which are now spinning above the tower’s second level, 400 feet above ground level.

The wind turbines are “virtually silent” and have been painted to match the rest of the tower. They are designed to produce about 10,000 kwh of renewable energy each year, enough to offset the tower’s electricity use in commercial areas.
